The SECO 02640637 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XNEX080608TR-ME09, manufactured to SECO grade MP3000 with a micrograin carbide substrate. The insert features a trigon shape with an 88.28-degree included angle, six cutting edges, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. A T-Land cutting edge style and negative rake geometry at 27 degrees make this insert well suited for stable, high-load cutting conditions. Holding method is screw-type, and the double-sided design maximizes the number of usable edges per insert. Licensed HVAC and metalworking tradespeople and CNC machinists install this insert in compatible SECO milling bodies.
This insert is designed for applications involving steel, stainless steel, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and H. The ME09 chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation in these demanding workpiece materials. Typical use scenarios include face milling, shoulder milling, and contouring operations where cutting stability and edge life in difficult alloys are priorities. The right-hand cutting orientation and insert size code 080608 define the geometric envelope this insert occupies within compatible cutter bodies.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R220.96-08 milling bodies. Insert size series is XNEX-08. ANSI and ISO code XNEX080608TR-ME09 governs dimensional and geometric fit with compatible toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the insert screw to the cutter body per the toolholder manufacturer torque specification found in the cutter body documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
