The SECO 02637880 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in grade MS2500, designed for high-performance milling of superalloys, titanium, and steel. It carries a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating over a medium-grain carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a positive rake angle of 7 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 12-degree relief angle. With 3 cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it suits a range of milling setups. This insert is specified by machinists, tooling engineers, and CNC operators working in aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing environments.
This insert is suited for milling operations on superalloys and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary application on steel and stainless steel. It fits the M06 chip breaker geometry, which is optimized for medium-condition cuts in difficult-to-machine alloys. The insert is compatible with SECO cutter series R218.19-20 and R217.21-R100, making it a fit for face and shoulder milling heads using the 218.19-100 series system. Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before installation to ensure full seating. Do not exceed the cutter body rated speed or the maximum depth of cut for this insert size.
