The SECO 02625447 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-precision turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Manufactured in grade TGP25 with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. It carries an LCMF insert style with a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for both left- and right-hand tooling setups. Key dimensional specs include a 0.236-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.031-inch corner radius. The double-end configuration extends usable insert life. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for multi-directional turning applications where axial and radial cutting forces are encountered simultaneously. It is rated for use on cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes K, M, and P. The MG chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in these material groups. With an insert size code of 160608 and a style designation of LCMF160608-0600-MG, it fits compatible MDT series toolholders designed for that insert form factor. Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Verify the insert seats fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before clamping to prevent micro-fracture at the cutting edge. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque specification for the LCMF seat style.
