The SECO 02623034 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-performance turning operations across a range of metalworking applications. It carries the TGP25 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating applied via a controlled coating process, delivering enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert features a 0.118-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.016-inch corner radius with an LCMF style geometry and FT chipbreaker. The 7-degree relief angle supports clean chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible toolholders for production turning on ferrous and stainless materials.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, corresponding to ISO material codes K, M, and P. It is suited for use in production turning environments where consistent chip control and edge life are required across multiple material types. The double-end configuration allows both ends of the insert to be used, extending service life per insert. With a neutral hand orientation and LCMF160304-0300-FT style designation, it is compatible with MDT-series toolholders designed for that insert geometry. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can chip the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating in the pocket is flush and secure before resuming cutting operations.
