The SECO 02623030 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-performance turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in grade TGP25 with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating applied through a CVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The LCMF160404-0400-FT style features a 0.157-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.016-inch corner radius. The FT chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow effectively in grooving and turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production environments are the primary installers of this insert.
The 02623030 is suited for turning and profiling operations on cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups K, M, and P. Its neutral hand orientation and double-ended configuration make it a versatile choice for multi-directional cutting paths. The MDT series designation indicates compatibility with SECO multi-directional turning toolholders and insert pockets designed for the LCMF insert style. This insert is well-suited to medium-duty production turning where consistent surface finish and tool life are priorities.
Designed for use with toolholders and insert pockets accepting the LCMF insert style in the MDT series. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including cast iron (ISO K), stainless steel (ISO M), and carbon and alloy steel (ISO P).
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Verify correct insert orientation and edge engagement before resuming cutting operations.
