The SECO 02616020 is a round solid carbide profiling and turning insert in the RCGS3 series, designed for high-performance metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TS2000 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating, optimizing wear resistance and edge life across a range of demanding workpiece materials. The insert features a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 33/64 inch thickness, and a positive rake geometry with a 7-degree relief angle. Four cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation make it a cost-effective choice for profiling and contour turning operations where edge rotation is part of the workflow.
This insert is intended for use on CNC turning and profiling applications targeting stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as primary workpiece materials. Cast iron, hard materials, and steel are listed as secondary workpiece materials. The T-Lock series clamp and pin holding method suits standard insert pockets designed to that specification. Material grade classifications M01, M10, S01, S10, S20, H30, and H40 indicate the range of ISO cutting conditions where this insert is rated to perform. It is installed by machinist technicians and CNC toolroom personnel in production and job-shop turning environments.
Compatible with T-Lock series toolholders designed for RCGS insert pockets. ISO standard designation RCGS9.525-46 and standards RCGS3-46 and RCGS9.525-46 govern fitment. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping method before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinist or toolroom personnel following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or rotating the insert. Confirm the insert pocket and clamping hardware are clean and free of chips before tightening the clamp screw or pin. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the specific clamp style in use.
