The SECO 02615990 is a VNMG 332-MR4 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating in the TS2500 manufacturer grade. It features a 35-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code V), a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The MR4 chip breaker geometry is engineered for demanding cutting applications. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert delivers consistent performance in high-productivity turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working with difficult-to-machine materials rely on this insert for its edge durability and controlled chip formation.
This insert is designed for primary use in superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S, material grades S10 and S20). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO codes P, M, and K). Suitable multi-use applications include turning, facing, profiling, and back turning. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of VNMG160408-MR4 and an industry standard number of VNMG332-MR4. It is a multi-use tool and is not a full-radius style. Typical installations are found on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop, aerospace, and general machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use indexable insert for VNMG-style toolholders accepting a 332 insert size with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Compatible toolholders must accommodate the VNMG insert shape (V, 35-degree diamond) with a clearance code N and tolerance code M. Verify toolholder specifications before ordering.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten clamping screws, as this can fracture carbide inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris before seating a new insert. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during tooling changes.
