The SECO 02615928 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG 433-MF4 series, designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It carries a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the TS2000 grade designation, providing heat resistance and wear protection at the cutting edge. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch corner radius, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With four cutting edges, a negative rake geometry, and the MF4 chip breaker, it is engineered for medium finishing operations on difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is rated primarily for stainless steel and superalloys including titanium, with secondary application capability in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation and clamp, pin, or lever lock holding compatibility make it adaptable across a wide range of CNMG-style toolholders. Typical use cases include finish and semi-finish turning passes where edge stability and coating integrity directly affect surface finish and tool life.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick, 80-degree diamond insert with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding. Compatible with tooling systems conforming to ANSI and ISO CNMG standards. Suitable for multi-use applications including boring, facing, and turning.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the pocket and clamping mechanism are clean and free of chips before installing. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rated for this insert geometry, and verify holder torque specifications against the toolholder manufacturer's documentation.
