The SECO 02615896 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMP-MF1 series, designed for precision metal removal in demanding CNC turning applications. It features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. The insert carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the TS2000 grade designation, providing thermal and wear resistance suited to high-temperature cutting environments. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch), and the MF1 chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow during light-to-medium finish passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel and superalloys including titanium, where controlled chip formation and edge toughness are critical. It also performs on secondary materials including steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Suitable multi-use applications include boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes in both job-shop and production environments. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard CNMP-series insert for toolholders accepting CNMP 432 geometry inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. ISO designation CNMG120408-MF1 can be used for direct cross-reference. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and superalloys including titanium; secondary materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamping screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for clamp, pin, or lever-lock styles. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and alignment.
