The SECO 02615888 is a VBMT 331-F1 solid carbide turning insert in the TS2000 grade, designed for high-performance metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 35-degree diamond (V) insert shape with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating applied for extended tool life and heat resistance. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge with a positive rake, making this insert well suited for finishing and light-to-medium roughing passes. It holds two usable cutting edges per insert and is secured by screw clamping.
This insert is primarily targeted at machining stainless steel and superalloys and titanium, where controlled chip formation and coating durability are critical. It is also rated for secondary use on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations in production or job-shop environments. The insert meets both ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO designation VBMT160404-F1. It is installed and changed by machinists and CNC operators as part of scheduled tooling maintenance cycles.

Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before torquing the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change. Do not use inserts that show chipping, cracking, or delamination of the coating, as these conditions can cause unpredictable tool failure during cutting.
