The SECO 02566827 is a multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for grooving and turning operations in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this neutral-hand insert delivers edge strength and heat resistance needed when cutting superalloys and titanium. The LCMF style with FT chipbreaker geometry produces controlled chip flow across a maximum cutting width of 0.125 inches and a cutting height of 0.177 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in MDT-compatible toolholders for high-precision, multi-directional cuts where tool life consistency is critical.
This insert is suited for precision turning and grooving of difficult-to-machine materials, specifically superalloys and titanium (ISO material groups M and S). The double-end design extends usable life per insert, making it a practical choice for production environments running high-temperature alloy components such as aerospace parts, turbine hardware, and medical implants. The CP200 grade and PVD coating are matched to low-to-moderate cutting speeds typical of these material groups.
Designed for use in MDT series toolholders accepting LCMF160302 style inserts with the LCMF160302-A125-FT profile. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M and S).
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is removed or locked out before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to prevent insert rocking or premature edge failure. Do not use inserts with visible edge chipping or coating delamination.
