The SECO 02566505 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation APKX1604PDR-ME12 and manufactured to the MP2500 grade. It is a single-sided, right-hand, parallelogram-shaped insert held by screw in compatible milling cutter bodies. The CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The ME12 chip breaker geometry and 24-degree positive rake angle promote efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. With 2 cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited to productive face and shoulder milling operations in industrial machining environments. Installation and replacement are performed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists.
This insert is designed primarily for milling steel and is also rated for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The MP2500 grade and Duratomic CVD coating make it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where consistent tool life is required. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 as specified by the manufacturer. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling on CNC machining centers in production environments handling the listed workpiece materials.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or toolholder fixture before replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
