The SECO 02560822 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-performance turning operations on superalloys and titanium. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide in the CP200 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for extended edge life in demanding cuts. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a double-end configuration, and a chipbreaker style designated FT. With a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches, a cutting height of 0.177 inches, and a corner radius of 0.016 inches, it delivers precise, repeatable geometry in tight-tolerance turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning operations on superalloy and titanium workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The MDT series is built around multi-directional cutting paths, making it appropriate for grooving and turning passes where tool engagement varies. The LCMF insert style and size code 160304 fit dedicated MDT toolholders designed for that geometry. The FT chipbreaker geometry is optimized for the stringy, work-hardening chips common to nickel-based superalloys and titanium alloys. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts; each package contains 1 insert.
Designed for use in MDT-series toolholders accepting LCMF insert style with size code 160304. Primary workpiece material codes are M (superalloy) and S (titanium). Refer to the SECO MDT toolholder selection guide to confirm holder compatibility before ordering.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the insert's rated cutting width or depth parameters listed in the SECO MDT application data.
