The SECO 02450377 is an indexable copy end mill designed for contour milling and profiling operations on CNC machining centers. Built on the R217 series platform, this tool accepts two XPKX12 inserts secured by screw clamping, delivering a 1 inch cutting diameter and a maximum depth of cut of 0.295 inches. The steel toolholder features a 1 inch cylindrical shank and integrated through-coolant capability, directing cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone to manage heat and extend insert life. With a maximum rated speed of 40,000 RPM and an overall length of 6 inches, it suits high-speed finish and semi-finish profiling work. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This end mill is suited for use on vertical and horizontal CNC milling centers equipped with a tool taper or direct-mount spindle accepting a 1 inch cylindrical shank. The through-coolant feature requires a machine spindle with internal coolant delivery. Typical applications include profiling, copy milling, and contour work in steel, cast iron, and other ferrous materials where controlled depth engagement and positive insert clamping are required. The 2-flute, 2-insert configuration keeps chip load manageable during ramping and helical interpolation moves common in die and mold work.
Designed for use with XPKX12 insert style. Compatible toolholder styles include R217.29 and R217.97. Manufacturer catalog reference number is R217.97-01.00-0-12.2A. Requires a machine spindle with internal coolant supply for through-coolant function.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Verify the machine spindle bore accepts a 1 inch cylindrical shank and that the drawbar or collet clamping system meets the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines. Confirm internal coolant pressure is within the machine and toolholder specifications before enabling through-coolant flow. Inspect insert seating and screw torque before each run to ensure secure clamping.
