The SECO 02430446 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning applications. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape (VBMT geometry) with a PVD-applied multilayer TiAlN and TiN coating under the CP500 manufacturer grade. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (0.3750 inches), insert thickness is 0.1874 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches. With a positive rake angle and sharp cutting edge, this insert is engineered for finishing and medium operations on difficult materials. It is held in place by screw clamping and carries a neutral hand designation.
This insert is suited for CNC lathe and turning center operations in job shop, production, and aerospace environments. Primary application is stainless steel (ISO material code M), with secondary compatibility covering steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). Supported operations include turning, back turning, facing, and profiling. The F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to medium depths of cut, making it well-suited for finishing passes and contour work on difficult-to-machine alloys. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before each insert change to ensure proper seating and edge geometry.
