The SECO 02430103 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the CP200 manufacturer grade, targeting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and a sharp cutting edge style with an F1 chip breaker geometry. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, it suits finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface quality matter. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-clamped toolholders.
This insert is rated for boring, facing, and turning operations. It performs best on stainless steel and superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M and S), with secondary suitability for steel and cast iron (ISO codes P and K). The F1 chip breaker geometry supports positive-rake cutting, which reduces cutting forces and heat generation — important when machining work-hardening alloys. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups. Material grades M01, M10, M20, S10, and S20 are covered. Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down or lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid cracking the carbide substrate.
