The SECO 02422140 is an indexable chamfer angle face mill designed for high-performance facing operations on machining centers and milling machines. Built on the R220.53 platform, it accepts SE X 1204 inserts held in place by screws and delivers a 45-degree chamfer angle geometry. The cutter has a 1.97-inch minimum cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch arbor hole, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.236 inches. With a negative radial and positive axial rake configuration, it balances cutting efficiency with edge stability. The unit runs right-hand cut and supports through-coolant delivery for chip evacuation and thermal control during continuous facing passes.
This face mill is suited for industrial machining environments where flat surface generation, shoulder chamfering, or finish facing is required. It is typically installed and operated by machinist and tooling professionals working in production shops, job shops, or maintenance machining settings. The R220.53 series is optimized for normal-pitch four-insert configurations, making it well matched to medium-duty facing applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where consistent surface finish and reliable insert indexing are priorities.
Designed for use with SE X 1204 inserts. Compatible with standard 3/4-inch arbor toolholders. Part of the SECO R220.53 cutter series for facing applications.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinist personnel with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Verify arbor and holder runout before engaging cuts, and ensure inserts are fully seated and screws are torqued according to the insert manufacturer guidelines. Activate through-coolant supply before initiating cutting passes to maintain proper chip flow and thermal management at the cutting edge.
