The SECO 00731877 is a carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the 10NR insert style with a 056 size code, it delivers a 0.0560-inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0560 inches. The insert features a micrograin carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating, which supports extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The CP500 manufacturer grade makes this insert suitable for universal material applications. It is intended for right-hand cutting and is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder.
This insert belongs to the Snap Tap series and is engineered for grooving and threading applications where tight dimensional control is required. The FG chip breaker geometry aids in chip control during shallow grooving passes. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S indicate compatibility across cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and superalloys. It conforms to ISO standards and carries a UNSPSC code of 23242105. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in clamp-style Snap Tap series toolholders that accept 10NR grooving inserts with a seat size of 10 and an inscribed circle of 0.2500 inches (1/4 inch). Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamp screw — do not overtighten. Verify insert orientation and cutting direction before resuming operation.
