The SECO 00099804 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SCMT432-F1 geometry, carrying the CP500 manufacturer grade with a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating. The insert features a 90-degree square shape with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a 0.1874-inch thickness. Four cutting edges and a positive rake angle with the F1 chip breaker make this insert suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations. It is designed for use in boring, facing, and turning applications across a range of workpiece materials, with primary designation for stainless steel machining under ISO material code M.
This insert targets stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. The F1 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at moderate to light depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.4685 inches. The insert is held by screw clamping and suits toolholders designed for SCMT-style inserts in production turning, CNC lathe boring, and facing operations in job shop and production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking trades are the typical end users.
Designed for use in SCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning operations on stainless steel (primary), steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. Material grades M10, M20, and M30. Industry standard number SCMT432-F1; ISO code SCMT120408-F1.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for damage or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate tool geometry and prevent premature edge failure.
