The SECO 00098798 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TDAB series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 5/32-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.008-inch corner radius. The insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN and TiN layers under the CP500 manufacturer grade, targeting M10, M20, and M30 material grade classifications. Three cutting edges are available per insert, and the flat-top chipbreaker geometry supports positive rake cutting action with a 15-degree relief angle. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 00098798 is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material code M), with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium (ISO codes P, K, and S). It is well suited for general turning, facing, and profiling passes where controlled chip formation and coating durability are priorities. The screw-clamping holding method is compatible with standard TDAB-style toolholders. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2598 inches. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of TDAB06T002.
Designed for use with TDAB-series screw-clamp toolholders. Compatible with ISO code TDAB06T002 toolholder seats. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Turning inserts should be seated and clamped by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully stopped and in a locked-out state before any insert change. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Never re-index a visibly chipped or fractured insert edge.
