The SECO 00096177 is a left-hand CFML-style indexable turning toolholder designed for cut-off and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 1 x 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches, with a head length of 1.54 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 1.25 inches. The holder is part of the Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and is built from steel for rigidity under interrupted and continuous cuts. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in demanding applications. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically installs and qualifies this toolholder.
This toolholder suits left-hand cutting direction applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. It is rated for universal primary workpiece materials, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which span hardened materials, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, steel, and superalloys. The MDT series designation means the holder supports multi-use configurations, making it appropriate for shops that need flexible tooling setups across a range of part diameters and groove widths. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.787 inches with the correct insert seated.
Designed for use with LC..1604.. insert family, including LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR insert styles with a compatible insert size code of LC1604 and an insert width of 4.00 mm (0.157 inches).
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder. Seat the shank fully in the turret pocket and torque all clamping screws to the machine manufacturer's specifications before running. Verify insert seating and tool offset registration before taking a first cut.
