The SECO 00096165 is an indexable turning toolholder designed for cut-off and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the CGIR100 style with a right-hand cutting direction and 0-degree lead angle, this toolholder accepts LC-style inserts in the 1606 size family, secured by a clamp-style insert holding method. The square shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall with an overall length of 6 inches. The holder is constructed from steel and is part of SECOs Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series, making it suitable for multi-use setups across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This toolholder is suited for both roughing and finishing passes in cut-off and grooving applications. Its universal primary workpiece material classification covers steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, and superalloy workpieces. The 0-degree lead angle and right-hand cutting direction make it a straightforward fit for standard right-hand turning setups on conventional or CNC lathes. A maximum depth of cut of 0.8 inches supports moderate to heavy grooving passes. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant delivery should be planned accordingly.
Compatible insert size code LC1606. Full insert compatibility includes LC.. 1606.., LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR insert styles as stated by the manufacturer. Suitable for universal workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is locked before mounting or adjusting the toolholder. Torque all tool post or turret fasteners according to the machine tool manufacturers specifications. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before initiating a test cut.
