The SECO 00096157 is a right-hand CGIR-style indexable turning toolholder built for external grooving operations on CNC turning centers and manual lathes. The toolholder uses a clamp-style insert holding method and accepts LC..1603.. series inserts, including LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR styles. The 1 inch by 1 inch square shank provides rigid clamping in standard turning machine tool blocks. Overall length is 6 inches, with a head length of approximately 1.299 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 1.42 inches. Maximum depth of cut is 0.43 inches. This is a steel-body toolholder in the Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series, suited for right-hand cutting direction.
This toolholder is designed for grooving applications across a universal range of workpiece materials, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. That includes steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It is a multi-use tool compatible with multiple insert geometries within the LC..1603.. family, making it a versatile option for shops running diverse materials on the same tooling setup. Coolant-through capability is not included in this toolholder.

This toolholder is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts or mounting the toolholder, de-energize the machine and engage the spindle lock per standard shop lockout/tagout procedure. Seat the shank fully into the tool block and torque the clamping screws using the appropriate Torx or hex key per the machine tool manufacturer's specification. Verify insert seating and edge condition before resuming cutting operations.
