The SECO 00093008 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert engineered for precision turning and grooving operations. Designated under the MDT series, it carries a CP600 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for extended edge life and thermal resistance. The insert features a neutral hand orientation and double-end design, making it suitable for both right- and left-hand tool holders in the same LCMF insert style family. With a maximum cutting width of 0.157 inches and a cutting height of 0.177 inches, this insert suits light to medium material removal passes. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals typically install this type of insert in CNC lathe and turning center applications.
This insert is designed for use across a range of workpiece material groups, including stainless steels (M), non-ferrous metals (N), carbon and alloy steels (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). The LCMF insert style and 160404 size code make it compatible with standard SECO MDT toolholders designed for that designation. This insert is installed by a machinist or tooling technician on a CNC lathe or turning center. The machine spindle and all axis motion must be brought to a full stop and the control placed in an safe state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the MDT toolholder clamp screw and do not overtighten beyond the holder manufacturer's seating guidance. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
