The SECO 00091855 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG433-MR3 series, carrying the CP500 manufacturer grade and a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a negative rake geometry, providing six usable cutting edges per insert. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for medium to heavy turning operations where tool life and edge consistency matter. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists working with precision carbide tooling are the primary installers and users of this product.
This insert is designed primarily for machining stainless steel, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. Typical applications include back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The MR3 chip breaker geometry supports chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.752 inches, and the insert length measures 0.8661 inches, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on workpiece material and machine rigidity.
Designed for use in standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece material compatibility is stainless steel (ISO material code M); secondary compatibility includes steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). Material grades M10, M20, and M30 apply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with indexable carbide insert tooling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw to avoid insert rocking or edge chipping. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or wear before seating a new insert edge.
