The SECO 00091088 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This double-ended insert carries the LCMF160302-0300-FT style designation and is manufactured from micrograin solid carbide in the CP500 material grade. A PVD-applied TiAlN and titanium nitride coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and 7-degree relief angle support versatile mounting in MDT-series toolholders. Cutting height is 0.177 inches with a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches and a corner radius of 0.008 inches.
This insert is suited for shops running light to medium grooving and turning work across multiple material categories, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant superalloys, hardened materials, and cast materials. The FT chipbreaker geometry is intended to manage chip flow in interrupted and continuous cuts. It is a double-ended insert, delivering two usable cutting edges per piece, which reduces tooling cost per edge in high-run production environments. Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris that could affect seating and cause premature edge failure. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully — the cutting edges are brittle and can chip if dropped or impacted.
