The SECO 00090974 is a left-hand CFIL-style indexable turning toolholder designed for cut-off and grooving operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. Built on a 1 inch x 1 inch steel shank with a 6 inch overall length, it holds LC..1605.. series inserts using a clamp-style insert holding method. The 90-degree lead angle and left-hand cutting direction make this toolholder appropriate for specific approach geometries on turning centers and manual lathes. It is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it suitable across a broad range of metals and non-metals.
This toolholder fits into the SECO Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and is configured for left-hand cutting direction applications. It is used in turning centers and CNC lathes where cut-off and grooving operations require a left-hand approach. The clamp-style insert retention supports quick insert changes on the floor without removing the body from the machine. The multi-use tool designation means the body can accommodate insert variations within the LC..1605.. family, including LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR insert types.
Designed to accept LC..1605.. series inserts, specifically compatible insert types LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR. Compatible insert size code is LC1605. Insert width is 0.187 inches (5.00 mm). Verify insert style and hand of cut match machine setup before ordering.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and the turret or tool post must be de-energized before mounting or repositioning the toolholder. Confirm shank clearance and turret pocket size match the 1 inch x 1 inch shank dimensions before installation. Torque insert clamping screws to the insert manufacturer specification using the correct Torx or hex key — do not overtighten.
