The SECO 00088702 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert in the LCMF style, grade CP600, designed for high-performance grooving and turning operations. Manufactured from solid carbide at material grade C5 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and titanium nitride coating, this insert delivers wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and double-end design allow flexible mounting and extended tooling life. With a cutting height of 0.177 inches and a maximum cutting width of 0.157 inches (4.00 mm), it suits precision material removal applications where tight dimensional control is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is used in CNC turning centers and multi-directional turning toolholders configured for the LCMF insert style. It is suited for grooving, parting, and profiling operations on workpiece materials coded M, N, P, and S, covering stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The MCR6 chipbreaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation in these material categories. Typical applications include precision component manufacturing in aerospace, general machining, and production turning environments.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting the LCMF insert style within the MDT (Multi-Directional Turning) series. Compatible with workpiece material codes M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications. Consult SECO MDT toolholder documentation to confirm pocket geometry match before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed according to the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage prior to seating a new insert. This product is intended for installation by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians familiar with turning center toolholder systems.
