The SECO 00086323 is an indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a right-hand orientation and accepts LC 1603 series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The toolholder delivers a minimum groove width of 3 mm (0.1181 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.43 inches. With an overall length of 5 inches and a 3/4 x 3/4 inch square shank, this holder is suited for production environments where repeatable groove geometry and secure insert clamping are required.
This toolholder is intended for external grooving and cutoff applications on conventional and CNC turning equipment. It fits standard 3/4 inch square shank tool blocks and turrets commonly found in job shops and production machining environments. The MDT series platform supports multi-directional cutting strategies, making it a practical choice for machinists running grooving cycles that require reliable insert indexing and consistent width control. No coolant-through capability is present on this holder.
Compatible with LC 1603 series indexable inserts. Designed as a direct-fit external grooving and cutoff toolholder for 3/4 inch square shank tool stations on CNC lathes and turning centers supporting the MDT series insert platform.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stopped and locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the shank fully in the tool block and torque the clamping screws according to the machine tool manufacturer and SECO tooling specifications. Ensure the insert is properly seated and clamped before resuming any cutting operation. Verify groove width and depth-of-cut parameters against the programmed cycle before running the first part.
