The SECO 00077963 is a laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal ISO threads on CNC lathes and threading operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this insert handles the demands of threading stainless steel and other challenging workpiece materials. The CP500 manufacturer grade, combined with the A2 chipbreaker geometry, provides controlled chip flow during internal threading passes. The insert features a 60-degree included angle conforming to ISO thread standards and is manufactured for right-hand thread cutting at a 1.5 mm pitch. Machinists and CNC operators working on precision threading applications will find this insert suited for consistent, repeatable thread form production.
This insert is intended for internal threading applications in turning centers and lathes where ISO metric thread profiles are required. The 16NR style fits toolholders designed for the Snap Tap series. The primary workpiece material designation is M, indicating suitability for stainless steel machining, where edge toughness and coating durability are critical. Applications include threading hydraulic fittings, fluid system components, and other precision parts requiring clean ISO metric internal thread forms. The TiAlN/TiN PVD coating extends edge life in abrasive and work-hardening materials.
Designed for use in 16NR Snap Tap series toolholders compatible with laydown threading insert configurations. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and seating requirements before installation.
Threading inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the Snap Tap toolholder to prevent insert movement under cutting loads. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before each insert change.
