The SECO 00077916 is a carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the 14NR insert style with grade CP500 micrograin carbide, it features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that improves wear resistance and edge life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert has a 0.1250 inch cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 0.1250 inches, and an overall length of 0.5512 inches. It mounts using a clamp-style holding method and is compatible with Snap Tap series toolholders. Installation and setup are performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S under ISO classification. That range includes hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, non-metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is suited to both production and job-shop turning applications where consistent groove geometry and repeatable edge performance are required. The FG chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during grooving passes. The insert is right-hand oriented and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.
Designed for use with Snap Tap series toolholders accepting 14NR style inserts with a size 14 insert seat. Compatible with workpiece material classifications H, K, M, N, O, P, and S per ISO standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and tighten the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before each insert change to maintain proper edge geometry and runout.
