The SECO 00077905 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries the 10NR030FG geometry in manufacturer grade CP500 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN finish. It delivers a cutting width of 0.03 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.03 inches. The micrograin carbide substrate paired with PVD coating supports broad material compatibility, making it suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials. It is held in place via a clamp-style insert seat and is oriented for right-hand cutting. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this insert in compatible Snap Tap toolholders for threading and grooving applications.
This insert is part of the SECO Snap Tap series and is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S. Typical applications include external grooving and threading on general-purpose turning setups in both production shop and job-shop environments. The FG chip breaker geometry is suited to controlled chip formation during shallow grooving passes. This is a single-use, non-multi-use insert intended to be indexed or replaced when worn rather than re-ground.
Designed for use in SECO Snap Tap series toolholders accepting a size 10 insert seat with a 0.25 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S per the manufacturer universal material grade rating.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamp, as this can crack the carbide insert. Verify insert seating and orientation before resuming cutting operations.
