The SECO 00077900 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for threading and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the 10ER/NR .046FG style in the Snap Tap series, it features a 0.046-inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.046 inches. The insert carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a micrograin carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating for wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists in production and job-shop environments.
The 00077900 is suited for external grooving and threading applications where a right-hand insert orientation is required. Its universal primary workpiece material designation covers multiple material groups, including ferrous, non-ferrous, and exotic alloys, making it adaptable across common turning jobs. The insert mounts via clamp-style holding in a compatible 10ER seat. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and an overall length of 0.3543 inches (9.00 mm), it fits compact toolholders used in precision grooving on small-diameter workpieces.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series toolholders accepting a 10ER insert seat size with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle. Conforms to ISO standards for insert geometry and sizing.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion is locked out before changing inserts. Verify the insert seats flush against all locating surfaces before tightening the clamp. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris prior to installation to prevent edge damage or premature failure.
