The SECO 00077865 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 16 threads per inch. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating under the CP500 grade designation, this insert delivers consistent thread form on a wide range of workpiece materials. The 60-degree included angle conforms to unified national thread standards. The 2M chipbreaker geometry helps manage chip flow during internal threading operations. Machinists and toolroom operators working with CNC turning centers or manual lathes use this insert in a compatible Snap Tap toolholder system.
This insert is suited for internal threading applications across universal workpiece material categories, including ferrous, stainless, non-ferrous, and heat-resistant alloys. The right-hand cutting orientation addresses the most common internal threading setups on production and job-shop turning equipment. It is packaged individually but must be ordered in multiples of two per the manufacturer minimum order quantity.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series toolholders accepting the 16NR insert style. Conforms to ISO standards for laydown threading inserts of this geometry. Verify toolholder seat and clamping compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when securing the insert in the toolholder pocket — do not over-tighten by feel alone. Inspect the seating surface for chips or debris before placing the new insert to ensure proper contact and thread-form accuracy.
