The SECO 00073076 is a laydown threading insert engineered for right-hand internal UN thread cutting. Manufactured from solid carbide micrograin substrate in the CP500 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert follows the 22NR profile with a 60-degree included angle and cuts at 6 threads per inch (TPI). With an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches and a thickness of 0.1854 inches, it seats precisely in compatible Snap Tap series toolholders. This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC lathes and threading centers.
The 00073076 is suited for internal threading operations on universal workpiece materials, covering ISO material groups K, M, N, P, and S. That broad material compatibility makes it a practical choice for shops working with cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, non-metallic materials, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. It targets applications requiring accurate 6 TPI UN thread forms in bores and threaded holes. The Snap Tap series design supports quick insert changes without disturbing the toolholder setup, reducing downtime during production runs.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series toolholders accepting the 22NR insert style. Confirm toolholder seat size and insert pocket dimensions before installation. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against SECO toolholder documentation for the 22-size insert class.
Threading inserts should be installed by qualified machining personnel following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping instructions. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is locked before seating or indexing any insert. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before installation, as contamination can affect seating accuracy and thread quality. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements during all tooling changes.
