The SECO 00072238 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNGM432MF1 geometry, manufacturer grade CP200, designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 55-degree diamond shape (insert shape code D), a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0315 inches) corner radius. The MF1 chip breaker geometry and sharp cutting edge style are engineered for finishing and semi-finishing operations. A multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists on turning centers and lathes.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on stainless steel and superalloys (ISO material codes M and S) as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for steel and cast iron (ISO codes P and K). The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across multiple toolholder configurations. The MF1 chip breaker is optimized for material grades M01, M10, M20, S10, and S20, targeting light to medium cuts with controlled chip formation. Designed for use in DNGM-series toolholders that accept a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch insert thickness, and clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Verify toolholder pocket geometry against insert size code 432 and clearance code N before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed away from the work zone before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and confirm the clamping mechanism engages the insert hole (hole diameter 0.2028 inches) or edge per the toolholder design before resuming cutting. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed range for the grade and chip breaker specified.
