The SECO 00068006 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external Stub Acme thread cutting at 6 threads per inch. It carries the CP500 manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating that extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert is configured for right-hand cutting and fits the 22ER insert style, with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.1854 inches. It is used in CNC lathes and turning centers by machinists and toolroom professionals producing Stub Acme thread forms on shafts, lead screws, and similar components.
This insert is suited for both production and job-shop environments where Stub Acme external threads are required. The Stub Acme thread form features a 29-degree included angle and is commonly found on linear motion components such as jack screws, valve stems, and feed screws in industrial machinery. The CP500 grade with PVD coating makes this insert applicable across universal workpiece material categories including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, non-metals, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys, as designated by ISO material codes K, M, N, P, and S.
Designed for use with 22ER-series Snap-Tap threading toolholders. Compatible with workpiece materials across ISO groups K, M, N, P, and S. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 2 units.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's insert seating procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed away from the work zone before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or insert key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw. Verify insert seating and orientation before resuming cutting operations.
