The SECO 00064903 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning centers and manual lathes. It carries a multilayer TiAlN and TiN coating applied via PVD process, which provides heat resistance and extended edge life in demanding cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The F1 chip breaker geometry and sharp cutting edge style suit finishing and semi-finishing passes. Neutral hand orientation and a positive rake angle make it adaptable across common turning toolholders.
This insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability on steel and cast iron. It is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations in production and job-shop environments. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom operators working to tight tolerances on aerospace, medical, or industrial components. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Material grades M01, M10, M20, S10, and S20.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure — do not overtighten, as this can chip the carbide substrate. Confirm insert seating and edge orientation before resuming operation.
