The SECO 00064794 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal partial-profile threading operations. Built from solid carbide micrograin substrate with a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating, it is engineered for wear resistance and consistent thread form over extended run times. The insert carries a 60-degree included angle, covers a thread pitch range of 14 to 8 TPI (1.75 to 3.00 mm pitch), and measures 0.375 inches inscribed circle diameter with a thickness of 0.1366 inches. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC lathes and threading centers where repeatable internal thread quality is required.
This insert is suited for right-hand internal threading across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the universal material grade codes K, M, P, and S. The Snap Tap series platform it belongs to is commonly used in production threading applications where consistent chip control and dimensional accuracy on internal threads are priorities. The partial profile design allows the insert to cut multiple thread pitches within the specified TPI range without requiring a dedicated single-pitch insert.
Designed for use with toolholders accepting the 16NR insert style in the Snap Tap series. Compatible with workpiece material grades K, M, P, and S per ISO classification. Verify toolholder seat dimensions against the 0.375-inch inscribed circle and 0.1366-inch thickness before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert to the correct clamping torque listed in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before each installation to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
