The SECO 00059830 is a TNMG542-M5 style triangular turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer CVD coating — TiC, TiCN, and TiN — the insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. It carries a TP40 manufacturer grade and an M5 chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. The inscribed circle measures 5/8 inches (0.6250 inches), insert thickness is 1/4 inches, and the corner radius is 1/32 inches (0.0315 inches). Six cutting edges are available per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The M5 chip breaker is optimized for medium to roughing cuts with a negative rake geometry. The insert accommodates a maximum depth of cut of 1.0039 inches and an insert length of 1.0827 inches. It is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock insert holding methods, making it adaptable across a wide range of standard TNMG-style toolholders used in both production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed for use in standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P group) and stainless steel (M group), with material grades P40, M35, and M40. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and de-energize the machine before seating or indexing an insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before installing the insert, and confirm the clamping mechanism is fully engaged before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the recommended maximum depth of cut for the toolholder and machine combination in use.
