The SECO 00059715 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills in demanding metal-cutting applications. The insert carries the SCGX style geometry with a P1 chipbreaker, a 90-degree included angle, and a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Manufactured to grade T250D and coated via PVD with TiAlN and TiN, the insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. It measures 0.5 inches in length, 0.5 inches in width, and 0.1875 inches thick, with a 0.031-inch corner radius. This insert is installed and indexed by machinists and CNC tool-crib technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for universal application across multiple material groups, including ISO material codes H, M, N, P, and S, covering carbon steels, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It fits insert drill bodies that accept the SCGX 12-size insert format. Typical use cases include through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations on CNC machining centers and lathes where indexable tooling is preferred over solid-drill regrinding cycles.
Designed for use in indexable drill bodies that accept the SCGX 12-size insert format (insert size code 12, 12.70 mm width). Specific drill body compatibility should be confirmed against the tool manufacturer's insert selection guide prior to ordering.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamp wrench specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat and torque the insert clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Do not attempt to re-sharpen or modify the insert geometry.
