The SECO 00052391 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This neutral-hand insert carries the LCMR style designation with a CP600 manufacturer grade and PVD coating applied over a C5 carbide substrate. The MC chipbreaker geometry controls chip evacuation during interrupted or continuous cuts. With a cutting height of 0.177 inches, a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches, and a corner radius of 0.008 inches, this insert is suited for tight-tolerance profiling and grooving passes where consistent chip control is critical.
The 00052391 is applied in single-end grooving and turning operations across a range of workpiece materials, including stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to ISO material codes M, N, P, and S. It is used in production turning environments where repeatable insert geometry and PVD-coated carbide wear resistance reduce cycle times and tool change frequency. The insert seats into MDT-series toolholders designed to accept the LCMR160302 insert size.
Designed for use with MDT-series toolholders accepting LCMR160302 insert size. Compatible workpiece materials include ISO code M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), P (carbon and alloy steel), and S (heat-resistant superalloys) as specified in the product attributes.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping screw threads are clean and undamaged before seating a new insert. Do not attempt to reseat or reuse a chipped or fractured insert. Follow shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements when changing inserts on live CNC equipment.
