The SECO 00048841 is a solid carbide cutoff insert engineered for OD parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the 150.10 series, it carries a CP600 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN dual coating that extends cutting edge life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert is neutral hand with a neutral lead angle, a 0-degree relief angle, and a 0.007-inch corner radius with a 14 chipbreaker designation. Overall length is 0.354 inches and overall width is 0.098 inches. It is sized to the 2.5 insert size code and is rated for C5 material grade applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert in compatible 150.10-series toolholders during cutoff and parting setups.
This insert is suited for OD cutoff operations in production turning environments, including both high-volume and job-shop settings. The TiAlN/TiN PVD coating supports use on steels, alloys, and similar workpiece materials where wear resistance and thermal stability are priorities. The neutral geometry makes it adaptable to a range of cutoff scenarios without left- or right-hand holder restrictions. It ships individually per package but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for toolcrib restocking or multi-spindle shop consumption.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement insert for 150.10-series cutoff and parting toolholders accepting a 2.5 insert size code with neutral geometry.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following standard insert-change procedures. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion arrested before accessing the toolholder. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's seating procedure — do not overtorque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
