The SECO 00046151 is a laydown threading insert engineered for internal UN thread cutting at 32 threads per inch (TPI). Built from micrograin solid carbide in the CP500 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for extended edge life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert seats in right-hand toolholders and produces a 60-degree included angle consistent with the UN thread standard. With a 1/4 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.1181 inches, it fits standard 11NR-style pockets in the Snap Tap series. Machinists and toolroom techs working on threaded bore applications will find this insert suitable for production and maintenance turning operations.
This insert is intended for internal UN threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It is suited to universal workpiece material classes covering cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, steel, and superalloys, as reflected by the K, M, N, P, and S material codes. The 32 TPI designation targets fine-thread applications common in hydraulic fittings, instrument housings, and precision mechanical assemblies. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of two pieces.
Designed for use in 11NR-style laydown threading toolholders within the SECO Snap Tap series. Compatible with holders accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle insert at 0.1181 inch thickness.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered off and in a locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert firmly without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature edge failure. Verify thread pitch and hand orientation against the workpiece drawing before starting the cut.
