The SECO 00045834 is a laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal UN threads at 14 threads per inch (TPI). Built from solid carbide in the CP500 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN finish, this insert is engineered for consistent thread form and long edge life across a wide range of workpiece materials. Part of the Snap-Tap series, it carries the 11NR style geometry with a 60-degree included angle suited to unified thread profiles. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle (IC) and a thickness of 0.1181 inches, the insert fits standard 11NR toolholders used in CNC and manual threading operations. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for right-hand internal threading on a broad range of materials, classified under workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steels, and heat-resistant alloys. The universal primary workpiece material designation makes it a practical choice for shops that run mixed-material jobs. Typical applications include threading bores, nuts, and internally threaded components where UN thread standards are specified. The PVD coating process preserves edge sharpness and supports dimensional accuracy through the life of the edge.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always bring the machine to a full stop and lock out spindle power before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert; avoid over-torquing the clamp screw. Confirm thread pitch and insert orientation before resuming cutting operations.
