The SECO 00045365 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMP-MF1 series, designed for precision finishing operations in CNC turning, boring, and facing applications. It carries an ANSI insert code of CNMP431 and ISO code CNMP120404, with a CP200 manufacturer grade and a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating applied for high wear resistance. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert geometry features a honed cutting edge, a negative rake, and a neutral hand orientation, making it well-suited for stable, consistent stock removal on demanding workpiece materials. The MF1 chip breaker is optimized for finishing passes.
This insert is primarily intended for machining stainless steel and superalloys and titanium, with secondary suitability for steel and cast iron. The CP200 grade delivers high wear resistance against stainless steel and moderate wear resistance combined with toughness when cutting special and super alloys. It is used in production turning centers and CNC lathes where a reliable finishing insert with predictable tool life is required. The MF1 chip breaker geometry suits light-to-moderate depth finishing cuts in both continuous and interrupted conditions on these material families.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting CNMP-style inserts with a negative clearance angle and clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards (ANSI CNMP431, ISO CNMP120404). Verify toolholder pocket geometry before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout state before insert indexing or replacement. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw or lever lock mechanism. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.4921 inches as listed for this insert geometry.
