The SECO 00040622 is a carbide turning insert in the VNMP-M1 series, designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. This uncoated, bright-finish insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V code), negative rake geometry, and a sharp cutting edge style. It carries manufacturer grade 883 and an M1 chip breaker configuration. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches, a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, and an insert length of 1.307 inches, it is built for controlled depth-of-cut operations up to 0.5748 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert in compatible toolholders for high-accuracy turning work.
This insert is rated primarily for superalloys and titanium (material code S), with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials (material codes M, K, N, H). Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both left- and right-hand toolholder setups. The four available cutting edges extend tool life and improve cost-per-edge efficiency on the shop floor.
Designed for use in VNMP-style clamping toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. The insert size code is 332 and the industry standard number is VNMP332-M1. Verify toolholder specifications before installation to confirm proper seating and clamping.
This insert is installed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and edge alignment.
