The SECO 00039970 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation XOEX060202FR-E03 in manufacturer grade H15. This single-sided, right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 30.6 degrees and a sharp cutting edge style, making it well suited for efficient chip formation in non-ferrous metal applications. With 2 cutting edges, a maximum depth of cut of 0.2362 inches, and an uncoated micrograin carbide substrate, it delivers consistent edge integrity at the cutting zone. Installation is screw-held, and the insert seats in compatible toolholders from the R217.69-06 cutter series.
This insert is designed for machining non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper alloys, where a sharp, uncoated edge reduces built-up edge and promotes clean surface finishes. It is used in milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills where the XOEX-06 series toolholder is already in service. The E03 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip flow at moderate-to-high cutting speeds typical of non-ferrous work. Machinists and tool-crib technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the primary end users.
Compatible with the R217.69-06 cutter series toolholders as stated by the manufacturer. The ANSI and ISO code for this insert is XOEX060202FR-E03, series XOEX-06.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
