The SECO 00039473 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal thread cutting operations. Built to the 09NR insert style in the Snap Tap series, it carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a micrograin carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating. The insert produces a partial profile 60-degree thread angle and covers a threads-per-inch range of 48 to 16 TPI, equivalent to a metric pitch range of 0.50 to 1.50 mm. At 0.0945 inches thick with a 7/32-inch (0.2188 inches) inscribed circle and a 0.0030-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for standard toolholders accepting the 09NR form factor. Installation is right-hand orientation for internal threading applications.
This insert is suited for internal threading on CNC lathes and turning centers across a broad range of workpiece materials. The universal primary workpiece material rating covers ISO material groups K, M, P, and S, making it applicable to cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. The Snap Tap series design supports consistent seating in laydown-style toolholders, and the PVD TiAlN/TiN coating provides wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures common in production threading cycles. This insert is installed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamp force — do not overtighten or undertighten the clamping screw. Verify insert orientation and seating before resuming cutting operations.
