The SECO 00034656 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the LCMR1606M0-0600-MP style, it features a 0.236-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.118-inch corner radius. The full-radius geometry and MP chipbreaker make it well suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes where consistent chip control and surface finish are critical. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in high-precision metalworking environments.
This insert is intended for single-end use with a neutral hand orientation, allowing it to run in either direction without repositioning the tool holder. The 883 grade is uncoated solid carbide with a C2 material grade and a 7-degree relief angle. It is rated for use on workpiece materials coded H, M, N, and S, covering hardened steels, stainless and general steels, non-ferrous materials, and heat-resistant superalloys. The MDT series is commonly applied in precision component turning where tight tolerances and repeatable insert indexing are required.
Designed for use with MDT-series tool holders accepting the LCMR insert style. Confirmed compatible with workpiece material codes H, M, N, and S as designated by the manufacturer. Consult the SECO MDT tooling catalog to verify holder and clamping system fit before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard turning insert indexing procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamping screw as specified by the tool holder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Confirm correct insert orientation and seating in the pocket before resuming cutting operations.
